Bangkok - Day 4

Day 4: Sunday,

The constant rattling of the bed bug bitten bodily rash is really getting old. Yes, she is talking about her itch every morning...

We planned to go Pratunam yesterday and Chatuchak today, but we did everything yesterday. What are we doing today?

So sis suggested to go back to Platinum Mall. It seems like that is the only place with decent nice clothes. I wanted to go back to Pratunam Market to find that jeans stall to get another pair. So we spilt up. Dad went with me.

We walked round and round the market for about half an hour but we can't find that stall. Instead dad saw some pants he like. Everytime he wanted to buy something he ask me to buy with him so we can get a discount. I think I have bought quite a few pairs of shirts that I really don't like. But what to do? Sometimes that is what people minded is all about.

Finally after half an hour we found the stall, but there is nothing else that is interesting. So we went back to Platinum Mall to look for them. In Platinum Mall, I stumbled upon a pair of jeans that is on sale lying in the sale bin. The only pair that is my size and I love it. It cost me only 150 baht, S$6.
Lunch time again! We ate at S&P which is in Pantip Plaza IT Mall. After that mom and dad went back to the hotel to sleep. Sis and I have not shop enough. We carry on in Pantip Plaza to find a cheap thumb drive. In the end we decided to buy in Singapore instead.

So we went back to Platinum Mall and comb 2 storeys. She bought a keychain, I got nothing. Went back empty handed.

Passed by A&W. I think a lot of you may not have remembered our favorite root beer float that comes from A&W. We ate there. Yes eat again. Sis wanted to eat, so I had to eat. Boy...

We walked back to the hotel, took a short nap, and off we go again, to Suan Lum Night Bazaar. This time, there is no rain. The cab is only 100 baht too. We ate at Beer Garden. Yes, eat! I am getting terrified of that word. "EAT"!

After dinner, the old couple went for their Thai body massage, sis and I went off our last night of shopping.

At Suan Lum, there is a guy who tried to see me a pair of sunglasses for 500 baht, which I can maybe get at 100 -1 50 baht at Chatuchak Weekend Market. I ain't no fool to that. There is a lot of sellers in Suan Lum trying to scam tourists. I felt very digusted. There was grief in my heart. Why can't people earn a decent and honest living instead? Will not an honest hand prosper?

I was very disturbed by it, but when I found a shop which did not try to scam me, I bought 2 T-shirts. Contented. At least I bought something.

Dad wants to go Patpong. Somewhere that he keeps talking about since the day we arrived. He said he wanted to show us what Patpong, go go bars is all about. I don't get it. Why would I want to see guys with boobs dancing on the pole in bikinis? Anyway, ladies bikinis cost around 200 baht in Bangkok. Cheap!

Call it a night...

Bangkok - Day 3

Day 3. Sis complaining about her itching body again. It is like a contant rattle snake. Getting really sick of the breakfast. I wonder if it was the left over from yesterday.
We went to Pratunam Market, it is like a Taipei alley market. The clothes are probably for the locals. Not my style. But I stumble upon a pair of jeans that looks like Levi's engineered jeans, and it only cost me 180 baht without bargaining. That is probably my best buy. HA!
There is really nothing interesting at Pratunam Market. Seems like the only shopping was theday before. So we took a cab to Chatuchak Weekend Market instead. The meter taxi only cost us 80 baht. That means the previous day 150 baht was a Robert?

We ate at the road side coffeeshop like stall at Chatuchak, some noodles and roast pork. Quite nice. I don't have mood to eat. I want to shop. Why is my mom always hungry?

After food, finally we are ready to go. But only after an hour my dad got tired. He wants to go for foot massage. So alright, I accompany him. It was ok. I still prefer the foot massage I got in Taiwan. Wasted an hour! But I bought a nice shade. So I guess its ok.

After the massage, we went to look for mom and sis. Dad suggest to eat lunch. I thought we already had lunch? Mom needs to eat he said. How many meals do we have to eat a day? I am on a diet... After lunch, time to go he said. I was unwilling. I have some clothes in mind I want to get but I have not found. The whole day I have not fulfilled my "lust" for shopping. I spent silly money on silly things like deodorant, face soap, and essential oil. What was I thinking? I just had to buy something.

I felt very unsatistified so I ask for another hour while they go have a cup of coffee. I wonder off myself to shop. Finally, I saw a nice shirt. I bought 10 silkscreen shirt for the price of 3. Good buy. All because of 1 shirt that I like. That is how far I am willing to go for something I like.

After half an hour in that 1 shop choosing 10 pieces of T-shirt, I am also tired. Finally fulfiled, I called it a day.

Ok, dinner time. We took a cab back to the hotel to drop our stuff before taking a train (BTM) to Phloem Chit. They went to pray to the 4-face Buddha, then we walk around the road stall. I bought a T-shirt there. Ate my road side chicken drumstick that I had been craving since the last I visited Phuket. They did not dare to try at first because of the episode of diarrehoe they had the last visit to Bangkok. But after trying my drumstick, they bought more. Ha!

Day ended after we went to ?? to see ah gua. But mom what to do massage, her feet hurts she said. There is always something somewhere on her that hurts. Like mother, like daughter. Sis don't want to massage. Dad already massage in the afternoon. So did I. But in the end I accompany her because she don't want to massage alone. Gosh, this is what people minded is all about. Scarifice. 2 massages in a day. My feet hurt!

Bangkok - Day 2

*Yawn* New day. Ready to shop. But first we got to eat breakfast. A hearty meal gives you energy to shop. Boy, is the breakfast pathetic.

930 am, ready to shop. We went to Platinum Mall, which is one street down our hotel. Platinum Mall is a whole sale market, you got to buy in bulk and bargain the price. But most of the price are pretty standard.

We had a full 8 hours of shopping there. It is like a professional career. We took a tuk tuk back to the hotel. Boy, are they a terror in driving. Good experience though.

We dropped our shopping bags at the hotel. I spent almost half of my currency I brought. It is only the first day of shopping. Woo... We changed our room back to the "un-upgraded" one and aer we disappointed. It is even smaller.

Sis is breaking out into rashes. Probably bed bugs. I was itching the night before as well.

Anyway we took a cab to Suan Lum Night Bazaar to have dinner and keep on shopping. The cab driver refuse to on the meter because there is a traffic jam over there at that time he claimed. And he charged us 150 baht. I think we were over-charged. Unfortunately, on our way there, it starts to rain heavily.

The rain spoiled the whole shopping mood. It was flooded everywhere, above the ankle. My jeans and shoes are soaked. We were drenched. Cold and wet. We ran into a resturant and settled our dinner there. The ambiance was quite romantic, cold and wet, dimly litted resturant in a foregin land, droplets of rain splatting on the window. Unfortunately, the crowd is wrong. How nice would it be to spend a time like that with a lover?

Anyway, we settled there. I wanted to eat seafood. Oh well...

The rain finally stopped. But our buying mood also stopped. With the flooding water everywhere, we called it a night.

What a waste...

Bangkok - Day 1

12 00am Bangkok time, finally left the airport. Got a taxi, sat on my first CNG car. The whole trip from the airport to First Hotel is only 200 baht by meter. Cheap!! But there are 2 tolls along the way, 25 baht and 40 baht respectively, and a airport surcharge of 50 baht.

When we reached the hotel, we were told that our reservation was given up. I think it is because we came close to 1 am in the morning the next day. The receptionist say she is going to upgrade us to a bigger room for one night. To our horror, the upgraded room isn't very big. How does the "un-upgraded" room looks like? I cannot imagine.

Its 1 plus am, tired and hungry, went to 7-11 next door to get a yogurt and chips. It is only 34 baht, which is less than S$2. I wanted to get a beer, but apparently there is a beer curfew.
Microwave food here is quite good. Ate fried rice. Or maybe I am just hungry. Oh yes, next time you go Thailand, there is no need to bring shampoo or conditioner or bath soap. They are only 20 baht here each, that is maybe S$0.80.

Oh yes, had this Brit couple who sat beside me on the plane, the girl is pretty, the guy is pretty good looking. But before we reach Bangkok airport, they quarrel because they can't find the camera pouch. Why does couples have to quarrel over trival matters?
It is 2 15am. Zzzzz.....
